Raj Thackeray blames Bihars for rapes, slammed
In this season of controversial remarks and rebukes, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray added one more by calling the migrants from Bihar responsible for the rising cases of rapes in Indian cities.
Thackeray called the rapists as those coming from Bihar, even in the case of Delhi gangrape, triggering a strong rebuke from political parties like Congress and even its ally BJP.
"All are talking about rapes, but no one says who do these. All of them are from Bihar and when I speak up they slap cases on me," said Thackeray on Saturday.
He blamed the Delhi gangrape to Biharis as well and said the system has collapsed.
Soon reactions followed in strong words.
Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said while some are dividing the country in terms of India and Bharat, some are diving between Maharashtra and Bihar.
BJP also slammed the remarks along with Janata Dal (United) which is ruling Bihar under the chief ministership of Nitish Kumar.
A nationwide protest and debate rages on the security of women and growing sexual assault on them after a 23-year-old Delhi paramedical student was gangraped and brutalized on a moving bus on Dec 16 night causing her death after 13 days of fight to survive.
