Delhi gang rape hearing to begin today
The Delhi gang rape trial is likely to being on Thursday at a south Delhi court with the police submitting a 1000-page chargesheet against the six accused, media reports said.
Once the metropolitan magistrate's court takes cognizance of the case, it will be transferred to a fast-track court that was inaugurated by India's Chief Justice Altamas Kabir on Wednesday.
The court will hold daily hearing in this case and have no adjournments.
Six people have been accused of raping and brutalizing a 23-year-old medical student in a moving bus. The victim succumbed to her injuries at a Singapore hospital on December 29. One of the accused is reportedly a minor.
Five of the accused are currently lodged in Tihar Jail, while the sixth is at a juvenile home. Reports said they will not be present in court on Thursday.
