Women cops to handle sexual assault cases in Punjab
The Punjab Police will employ women officers to deal with the cases of sexual assaults, sexual violence and abduction of women.
Talking to reporters here, Additional Director General of Police (Crime) Jasminder Singh regretted that so far the police chiefs of various districts were using women police officers for dealing with dowry complaints only.
He said henceforth any complaint of sexual assault would be registered and acted upon immediately. The police chief would personally monitor the enquiries and investigations in such cases on a daily basis.
They would also bring serious and sensational cases to the notice of senior officers at police headquarters promptly.
