A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three people in Uttar Pradesh and then dumped in south Delhi's Kalkaji area on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
The Delhi Police have registered a case of gangrape under Section 376(G).
The police also detained a person who was identified as Dilip Verma in connection to the case.
The incident occurred when the victim was returning to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan town.
The victim met Verma in Vrindavan and then accompanied the accused in his car while they returned to Delhi, the police said.
Verma and two others later raped the woman in the moving car.
The victim is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital, the police said.
The incident occurred just days after a 23-year-old medical student was raped and brutalized with an iron rod on a moving bus in New Delhi and then thrown off the vehicle along with her male companion on December 16, when she was returning home after watching a movie.
