Kolkata hosts 'Mini Rajasthan' at Nicco Park

The sprawling lawns of Kolkata's Nicco Park resembles a mini Rajasthan these days.
Salt Lake Lok Sanskriti is hosting the Rajasthani fair, 'Aapno Gaaon' there to celebrate the Rajasthani ethnicity and make the people acquaint themselves with the essence of real traditionalism in India.

The 8 day fair that got off to a colourful start this Monday is witnessing Christmas Carnival, Folk Dance, religious performance, etc.till Dec 31.
Present at the inauguration of the fair were West Bengal Sports and Transport Minister Madan Mitra, MLA Sujit Basu, Chairperson of Bidhannagar Municipality Krishna Chakraborty and President of Salt Lake Lok Sanskriti Sandeep Garg among others.

Aapno Gaaon, which is supposed to be a mini Rajasthan, showcases the northern state with all its true elements.
To give an exact desert ambience the organizers showcased camel ride, desert safari, colourful tarpaulins, tents for magic shows , sand arts namely 'Baalu ka Tila, traditional fire dance, scintillating performances by folk artists, puppetry and bonfire along with other exciting items adding to its glamour quotient.
Apart from these the most important part of the fair is some mouth watering snacks from Rajasthan and cooked by maharajas from the land of desert.

Delicacies like Dal-bati-churma, Baajre ki Roti, Gwarfali ki sabji, Gatte ki Sabji,along with the desserts like Raabri, Maalpoa from the cuisines of Rajasthan is served hot in 'Chokhi Dhaani' in a very traditional way in a cottage at the fairground to give a Rajasthani look.
Besides the special performances by folk artists, Rajasthani street amusement shows like tightrope walk, man pulling vehicles with a mustache, Rajasthani pot dance from the artists from Jaipur along with Chokhi Dhaani are other attractions.
To peak the Rajasthani fever up on Dec 30 actors from Bollywood Anushka Sharma, Imran Khan, Pankaj Kapoor and the director Vishal Bharadwaj would be there to promote their upcoming film ''Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola''.
