The three-day 27th state-level conference of Association of Maharashtra Obstetrician and Gynecologist Societies (AMOGS) will be held from December 28 at Shivaji University here.
Addressing a news conference this evening, Dr Milind Pishawikar, vice president of AMOGS, said that the theme of conference is 'Save the Uterus'.
Lectures and discussion will be directed to avoid hysterectomy and sharing of experiences in this field amongst doctors.
Dr Pishawikar said that various other illness related to women's health and child bearing will be discussed with specific emphasis on genetics.
As part of this conference, five pre-conference workshops will be arranged at Apple Saraswati Hospital in Kasba Bawada, a suburb of the city. Dr S Suresh, the world renowned radiologist from Chennai, will educate the gynaecologists on recent developments in ultrasonography in these pre-conference workshops.
More than 1,000 gynaecologists from all over the state will participate in this conference, in which Dr Snehalata Deshmukh, a paediatric surgeon, will be the chief guest.
While, Vijaylaxmi Bidri, commissioner of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC), and N J Powar, vice-chancellor of Shivaji University, will presid over the function.
Five women from society, who have shown grit and courage while fighting for a dignified life for themselves and their family, will be felicitated during this function.
A public forum has been arranged on evening of December 29 at V T Patil Hall. Lifestyle modifications and coping with life after 40, will be discussed in this forum.
