Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said the state government will construct a memorial of Maratha King Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj at the 27 acre land of Shahu Mills.
In recognition of the works of Shahu Maharaj to the country and preserve his cultural heritage, the state government would construct an International level memorial, where there would no commercial construction, the Chief Minister told reporters at Shahu Mills premises this afternoon.
A committee under the Kolhapur Guardian Minister and Heritage Architectures would decide the outline of this memorial, he added.
On direct pipeline scheme for drinking water to Kolhapur, Mr Chavan said the state government would take a decision shortly on the issue.
On Industrial policy of 2006, he said the government would announce a new policy next week.
Cooperation and Kolhapur Guardian Minister Harshvardhan Patil, Labour Minister Hasan Mushrif, Minister of State for Home Satej Patil, Kolhapur Mayor Jayshree Sonvne were among those present on the occasion.
