Protest shifts Putin-Singh meeting venue
With the national capital turning into a fortress over the anti-rape protests and violence, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would meet visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks at his residence instead of the usual venue for such meetings.
Putin would meet the PM at his residence on Race Course Road instead of the Hyderabad House, the venue for all high level meetings and document signing ceremonies with foreign dignatories.
In a revised schedule, the Ministry of External Affairs said: "Delegation level talks with the Prime Minister. Venue: 7, Race Course Road."
Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a one-day visit to India for the 13th annual Indo-Russian bilateral summit, on Monday.
The two countries are expected to sign a number of bilateral agreements.
According to reports, the Kremlin has said that Putin would discuss "concrete steps to further develop strategic partnership" in trade, investment, military and energy policy.
Putin is scheduled to call on President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday afternoon.
He will leave for home at 4.30pm.
Putin had last visited India as the Russian Prime Minister in 2010.
