The long wait for officers of Uttar Pradesh Provincial Police Services (PPS) cadre for induction into the elite Indian Police Services (IPS) cadre finally ended today when Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) of Ministry of Home Affair (MHA) issued notification in this regard.

The 61 officers who were promoted into IPS cadre included names from 1981 batch till some officers of 1987 batch while 7 more officers were promoted but their envelopes were sealed due to various reasons.

The first name is of Ram Bhadhur while last name is of KB Singh who belongs to 1987 batch. The Promotion will not just give much needed respite to the officers who were waiting promotion now for more than three years but will also give more officers to the Government to post them as incharges of the districts.

Till now UP Government had no choice due to acute shortage of SP rank officers in the State. The others who were promoted included Udai Shankar Jaiswal, Sharad Sachan, Rakesh Chandra Sahu, Jitendra Kumar Shahi, Jawahar, Shiv Narain, Umesh Chandra Srivastava, Dinesh Chandra, Anil Kumar Rai, SK Verma, Rajendra Prasad Singh Yadav, Vijay Bhushan, Ram Bodh, Kavindra Pratap Singh, Sunil Kumar Saxena, SS Baghel, Rakesh Shankar, Umesh Kumar Srivastava, Satyendra Kumar Singh, Ratan Kant Pandey, Vikramaditya Sachan, D P Srivastava, Vijay Yadav, Shiv Sagar Singh,Anil Kumar Jain, Nagendra Singh, Piyush Srivastava, Satya Bhadhur Pathak, Dinesh Chandra Dubey, Vinay Kumar Yadav, Hira Lal, Ram Krishna, Shreekant Singh, Ashok Kumar (11), Sanjay Kumar (1), Arvind Sen, Kailash Nath Singh, Shiv Shankar Singh, Om Prakash Srivastava, Kripa Shankar Singh, Rakesh Singh, VP Srivastava, Umesh Kumar Singh, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Raju Babu Singh,Vishambhar Dayal Shukla, Sriparna Ganguly, Poonam srivastava, Saligram, Ram Lal Verma, Anil Kumar, Harish Kumar, Hari Narain Singh,Deepak Kumar Bhatt, Dileep Kumar, Lalit Kumar Singh and Rajesh Krishna.

It may be mentioned that after registering their anger with the State government for distorting some facts regarding induction of officers of PPS cadre into the elite IPS cadre, officials of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) made a surprise move when they held the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting for the same here in the State capital on December 12 last.

It was for the first time that such DPC was made by UPSC in the State just as they apprehends that the facts send to them were distorted just to facilitate undue advantage to some of the blue-eyed officers. The UPSC reportedly made the move after the Ministry of Home Affair (MoH) pointed out the anomalies in the list which was send to them for making necessary notification for the promotion last month.

It may be mentioned here that UPSC already hold a meeting to promote officers of PPS cadre from Uttar Pradesh to IPS cadre in the last week of November in New Delhi.
