Uttar Pradesh govt to partner with CII in Partnership summit in Agra

Following the slew of measures to promote Uttar Pradesh as the most preferred destination for investment, Akhilesh Yadav government today decided to partner with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the organisation of Partnership Summit 2013 at Agra from January 27 to 29 next year.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani in the presence of Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC), Anil Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Small Scale Industries - Mukul Singhal, Principal Secretaries of Housing, Finance, Tourism, Culture. Officials of CII who took part in the meeting included Director, CII North-Pikendra Singh; Chairman State Council of CII- Alok Saxena; Co-Chairman and CII. Northern Region Task Force Jayant Krishna.

Chief Secretary, Jawed Usmani said, 'It would be a good occasion to showcase the entire package of policies and initiatives taken by the state Government of for turning around industrial and business development scenariofor inclusive growth.' 'All new industry-friendly policies in the offing should be documented before this event, so that they can be unveiled as a package', directed the Chief Secretary.

Assuring full cooperation to CII for successful organisation of this flagship event the Chief Secretary directed to hold meetings of government committees formed for this purpose by the end of December, so that terms of reference may be issued and responsibilities fixed.

After the announcement of new infrastructure and industrial investment policy, IT policy and food processing policyrecently, new enabling policies on poultry farming, Co-generation and Solar Energy, Sugar, etc. are in their final stages of formulation.

IIDC, Mr Gupta said special session will be organised at this summit on 'Uttar Pradesh - The Land of Opportunities'. Parallel sessions will be held to focus on investment opportunities in infrastructure development in road, power, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, IT, Food processing etc. He added that committees have been already constituted to ensure successful organisation of this investment promotion event, to be held for the first time in Uttar Pradesh. These committees have top government officials along with CII officials as members. Special Secretary, Industrial Development, Kaushal Raj Sharma informed that industrialists, both Indian and from abroad are expected to participate in the summit. Committees on Protocol and Reception, Accommodation, Security, City beautification, Cultural programmes, Promotion and Branding, Business Alliances, etc will soon meet to decide future course of action.
