Leopard enters houser, caught later by widlife officials
Panic gripped Nishat area on the bank of the Dal Lake when a leopard was seen, official sources said here today.
Residents closed their houses and people ran for safety after the leopard, entered from nearby forest, was spotted, the said.
Later wildlife department officials and police reached the spot,they said. The leopard entered the house of one Mohammad Shafi Sheikh.
Police and wildlife officials caught the feline, the sources added.
The wild animals are moving towards residential areas in the Kashmir valley following heavy snowfall in the upper reaches.
The wildlife department has requested people, living near forests, to take extra precautions while moving out of their homes, particularly during evening hours.
