ECoR imposes fine to maintain cleanness in stations

East Coast Railway (ECoR) has asked its officials to impose fine to maintain cleanliness at various stations and also railway compartments.

The ECoR will launch a cleaniliness drive in different stations under its jurisdiction from the middle of this month in a bid to keep the stations neat and clean.

ECoR sources here said Station Managers, Ticket Collectors or officials of equivalent rank of Operating Department, RPF had been instructed to have strict vigil and maintain cleanliness at Station premises.

The officials were asked to slap a fine on persons found spitting, throwing dirt, cooking, bathing, urinating, defecating, feeding animals, repairing and washing vehicles, utensils, clothes or any other objects.

Fine will be also imposed if any one found keeping any type of storage, paste and put up any posters, write and draw anything in any compartment, carriage of railways, premises or indulge in defacing railway property in stations.

The Railway officials were authorised to impose a fine of Rs 100 at 'A1' Class Stations like Bhubaneswar, Puri and Visakhapatnam, Rs 50 at 'A' Class Stations like Bhadrak, Brahmapur, Cuttack, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Khurda Road, Palasa, Rayagada, Srikakulam Road,Vizianagaram and Sambalpur and Rs 30 in rest of the stations under the jurisdiction of ECoR found litering dirt and indulging in defacing the railway property.

Railway sources said during an anti-spitting drive, launched from December 16 last, the ECoR had so far collected a fine of Rs 3790 from 46 passengers for spitting on railway premises.
