UP BJP president opposes reservation bill
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Laxmikant Bajpayee today side with senior party leaders over the issue of Reservation in Promotion Bill.
"I and many of party leaders in the state unit are opposed to reservation in promotion to government employees," Mr Bajpayee said here in a statement.
"We have opposed the Reservation in Promotio Bill since beginning and would stage a protest against the issue," he clarified.
He further stated that a letter has already been dashed to party's central leadership and objection raised over support of senior party leaders to the Bill. "The support of senior BJP leaders to the Bill could hit the party's image in UP terribly," the UP BJP president asserted.
Supreme Court should also have a say into the matter, he added.
The BJP activists, including Mr Bajpayee, also staged their protest against FDI in retail sector.
Lashing at both the central and the state governments, the BJP leader called them anti-farmers and anti-people.
Yesterday, former BJP state unit president Surya Pratap Sahi said he has written a letter to party president Nitin Gadkari and veteran party leaders, including Lal Krishna Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh, and urged them to oppose the Bill.
The BJP is facing inner wranglings over the issue of support to reservation bill.
