MP's ex-CM praises Uma
Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration and Development Minister and former chief minister Babulal Gaur today said it was senior leader Uma Bharti's efforts that led to formation of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime in the state in 2003 but Ms Bharti should not view that as "punishment".
"At that time, Ms Bharti put in tremendous efforts and that became the reason for the then Digvijaya Singh-led Congress regime -- which was in power for a decade -- suffering a historic defeat. There is no doubt that Ms Bharti made a renunciation after forming the government," Mr Gaur told UNI over phone here.
Following a hearing at a local court yesterday, Ms Bharti responded to media queries by saying that though a BJP regime was formed under her leadership in 2003, she did not enjoy its formation but was actually punished and that was why she is having to appear in court.
"Ms Bharti is a hardworking leader and I respect that trait," said Mr Gaur.
