In the run-up to the National Voter Day on January 25, a special voter registration campaign would be launched for the youths in Punjab from January 6 to 25.
A spokesman for the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab today said that during the summary revision from October 1 to 31, the Commission had invited claims and objections.
During that period, the Commission had received a record number of 9.50 lakh claims and Objections (Form 6).
Now voter identity cards would be distributed on January 5, he added.
A special voter registration campaign would be launched from January 6 to 25, for those citizens, who would attain the age of 18 by January 1, 2013 and have not yet registered themselves as voters, the spokesman informed.
Identity cards would also be given to them at the polling stations itself, he added.
