Shiv Sena replies to Commissioner's Notice

Shiv Sena today decided to shift the makeshift memorial of their leader late Bal Thackeray from the historic Shivaji Park by december 17, This was indicated in a reply to the notice of Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation (BMC) to shift memorial of Bal Thackeray from Shivaji Park.

In letters to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, BMC commissioner Sitaram Kunte and City police commissioner Dr Satyapal Singh, the party stated that the temporary memorial structure of late Thackeray would be shifted on December 17, the day last month he passed away.

This was decided following the readiness of party executive president and his son Udhav Thackeray to do so. it was a climb down from earlier announcements by senior party leaders that shiv sainiks would not budge from the present structure.

Earlier, Mr Chavan had said that it was given to the Shiv sena for Bal Thackeray's cremation only following the assurance from party leaders.
