Early morning fog at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport here delayed flights today between 40 and 45 minutes, airport officials told UNI.
"Visibility came down as low as 100 meters at one time and remained at 200 meters for the rest of the period, making flight operations unsafe," according to one official.
A Spicejet plane from Chennai to Kolkata was diverted to Guwahati because of the low visibility.
The first flight departed from the airport at 0900 hrs.
Inclement weather yesterday in parts of east, north east of India and Bangladesh had also affected flights from Kolkata.
