Hundreds of residents, mostly women, took to the streets and blocked main Natipora-Nowgam road in the uptown, protesting against the frequent and unscheduled power failure.
Raising anti government and anti Power Development Department (PDD) slogans, the residents blocked the main road at Naikbagh.
The residents alleged that power remained off for the past 24 hours.
"We are facing unscheduled and frequent power failure," the agitators alleged.
Refusing to allow traffic on the road, connecting hundreds of village with city, they said despite assurance by the PDD officials nothing has been done to improve the power supply in their localities.
Senior civil and police officials also visited the spot, but the agitators refused to allow traffic, demanding that their feeder should be changed.
Later, after assurance by the PDD and civil and police officials that the feeder will be changed tomorrow, traffic was allowed this afternoon.
