Modi misleading people over Gujarat development: Congress MP
Congress MP Sachin Pilot today hit back at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that he was misleading people of the state on development.
Addressing media persons here this evening, Mr Pilot claimed the UPA government at Centre gave more financial assistance than the earlier BJP-led NDA government to the Gujarat government.
In Gujarat, nearly 7,000 farmers had committed suicide under the BJP regime, he alleged and said people of the state were not satisfied with the development works in Gujarat.
'We will approach those sections of society, who are not satisfied here. We will put forward our viewpoints before them, whether they are dalits, tribals, youngsters, elderly or vulnerable. The state government could not do anything for them in the last 10 years, but the Congress party will try to give them a better life,' he said.
He also claimed that during Madhavsinh Solanki's government, Gujarat had made exemplary development than under the BJP rule led by Mr Modi.
The Congress MP said that the central government will make all attempts to give the people of Gujarat a better life in the times to come than in the last eight to ten years. Mr Pilot criticised the BJP government for not appointing a Lokayukta in Gujarat in the last eight years.
In reply to a question, he said 'Rahul Gandhi is our leader and has an ability to lead the nation.' In reply to another question, he denied that there was any leadership crisis in Gujarat Congress. In reply to another question, he admitted that prices had increased manifold but assured that the Congress was trying to contain the price rise.
