Don't play with fire: Randhawa advises Majithia

Reacting sharply to the statement of Revenue Minister S Bikram Singh Majithia that Congress should first seek the resignation of Ms Sonia Gandhi, Mr S Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA and Gurdaspur DCC president said this reflects the 'unrepentant' attitude of the minister due to 'arrogance of power'.

When the entire nation was shocked over the incident of a cop being killed for saving his daughter from eve-teasers, the Akali government did not have the basic courtesy to apologise for the incident.

A senior Akali leader killed the policeman who was protecting his daughter.

The minister was trying to get away by equating riots with a cold blooded murder, he said.

Mr Randhawa, giving a tongue in cheek response to Mr Majithia said, 'we can well understand your dilemma to protect your brigade of goons on whose shoulders the entire sand business, land grabbing and political set up is being run.' Terming the incident as 'shameful', the Gurdaspur DCC president said even a police officer was not safe in the Majha area.

People were so scared of these goons that they rarely registered a complaint against them.

If they gathered courage to complain, the police would not register a case if the accused was aligned to the ruling party, he alleged.

Mr Randhawa warned Mr Majithia that he was playing with fire by promoting and protecting criminal elements and warned that those who played with fire, got their hands burnt.

Mr Randhawa also reminded that recently various intelligence agencies of the Union Home Ministry had warned the state government that efforts were being made from across border to revive terrorism in the state.

These goons, having huge quantities of licensed and unlicensed weapons, were readymade material for furtherance of terrorism activities.
