Some good news has come from Ministry of Environment and Forest for the employees of Andaman's Forest Department, who were complaining about low pay scale fixation since a long time.

According to an answer given in Parliament by Mr Namo Narayana Meena, the Minister of Finance (E and FS), the Ministry of Environment and Forest has constituted a Departmental Anomaly Committee as per the advice of the Finance Ministry to look into the matter relating to upgradation of pay scale as per the 6th CPC of Assistant Conservator of Forests and Forest Ranger in the A and N Islands Forest Department.

He was replying to an unstarred question raised by Mr Bishnu Pada Ray on the subject in the Lok Sabha.

'As per records available with the Ministry of Environment and Forest, the matter related to upgradation of pay scale of the posts in the A and N Forest Department was received in the Ministry of Environment and Forest on October 22, 2010,' the minister said in his written reply.

The report of the Departmental Anomaly Committee is being examined in the Ministry of Environment and Forest and decision is to be taken on the subject by the Ministry of Environment and Forest in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, the minister informed.

'This is an encouraging development and we look forward to a positive outpur,' Mr. Ray, the lone MP from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, told UNI over phone today.
