Posted on Dec 08, 07:28PM | UNI

A woman tourist received fracture injuries here during paragliding at Solang nallah yesterday.

The tourist injured her hind limb as she and her husband were taking the air ride yesterday while her husband and the pilot remained unhurt.

A case has been registered against the errant pilot for making unsafe landing, said SDM Balbir Thakur.

Mr Thakur said the pilot has been booked under sections 336 and 337 of IPC for causing injury to the tourist while making unsafe landing near here.

She was immediately given first aid and taken to a nearby hospital.

Samir, husband of the victim, hailing from Andheri West, Mumbai, lodged a complaint with the police.

Such an incident is an eye-opener to the department, which was already dealing with the prevalent practice of untrained parading pilots, said the SDM.

Similar incidents have taken place earlier also.

Mr Thakur said there are more than 100 paragliding units and 90 river rafting private units in Manali which are mushrooming in the town.

The department was keeping tabs on them to avert such incidents after registering them and checking their kits by an expert committee constituted by the department.
