Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reportedly donated a handsome amount of 50,000 dollars, to help buy tents for Syrian refugees.

According to a news article posted on the UN Refugee Agency's website, the actress, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, highlighted the plight of those who have escaped Syria in the midst of ongoing fighting between rebels and President Bashar Hafez al-Assad's government forces, on her recent visit to the Middle East.

The 'Salt' actress praised the country's officials for welcoming in refugees, in a meeting with border officers in neighbouring Jordan.

"The incredible compassion shown to these traumatised refugee families by the Jordanian border guards was extremely moving. Jordan has welcomed the refugees even though it has placed a huge burden on the country. The international community needs to show more solidarity and to support Jordan and the other countries in the region who continue to keep their borders open," Contactmusic quoted Jolie as saying.

Jolie also went to a refugee camp in Jordan to meet families who had fled their homeland - and now it has emerged the star and her partner have handed over their own cash to help those in need.
