Jammu and Kashmir government is taking up 7526 kanals of land-at Rakh-i-Arth to rehabilitate Dal Lake dwellers in Srinagar.
Officials said here today that a number of measures were being taken to expand and beautify the world famous Dal Lake besides the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers at Rakh-i-Arth.
They said that 7526 kanals of land at Rakh-i-Arth will be taken up in three phases for rehabilitation of the Dal dwellers.
During the first and second phase as many as 3000 kanals of land each and 1526 kanals of land during the 3rd phase shall be taken up for developing modern facilities for those to be rehabilitated.
Officials said that Rakh-i-Arth will be developed as township having better road connectivity besides proper sewage and drainage systems in addition to modern health care, education and shopping facilities.
An amount of Rs 57 crore have been utilised for the acquisition of land and rehabilitation of 200 families besides different developmental activities at Rakh-i-Arth.
