Women, children issues to be discussed in Lok Sabha: Speaker
Speaker Meira Kumar today said issues related to women and children would be taken up in the Lok Sabha for discussion.
The Speaker's statement came during Question Hour when Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath's reply failed to satisfy the members.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal (SAD) had asked Ms Tirath what a child should do if he or she was being forced into a child marriage or was facing sexual abuse at home.
Ms Tirath's reply did not satisfy the members and they kept on seeking 'specific answer' on the issue.
It was decided the issue was of critical importance and needed proper debate on it.
The Speaker asked the members to bring a notice on it so that problem could be discussed in detail.
