Three Railway officers trapped accepting bribe

CBI's Anti Corruption Unit last night caught three senior Central Railway officers red-handed, for allegedly accepting bribe of lakhs of Rupees from a contractor for clearance of pending bills and grant of new contract to him.

Senior Divisional Engineer (South) G S Yadav was trapped at his official bungalow in Civil Lines while accepting Rs 3.53 lakh, Office Superintendent Shakeel alias Mohammad Mujamil and an officer Kumar Sanjay were caught while accepting Rs one lakh each from the same contractor at Maharajbag Club.

The bureau sleuths also conducted searches at the office premises of these railway officers and seized incriminating documents.

An offence has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the trio. The identity of complainant contractor has been kept secret on his request, Superintendent of Police (SP) CBI, Sandeep Tamgadge said.

Further searches at their office and residential premises are on, he added.
