Congress leader and Union Minister Rajiv Shukla on Sunday met Narhari Amin in an apparent effort to mollify the party's senior leader in Gujarat who was miffed with the move to not allow him an election ticket.
However, the Congress still appeared firm on its decision of not fielding leaders who have lost two elections, the reason behind Amin's disqualification from the candidate list for this month's polls.
Following his meet with Amin, Shukla said that a meeting of all state leaders unhappy with the distribution of election tickets has been called for Monday and a final call will be taken after that.
Amin, a former Deputy Chief Minister who was expecting to contest from Gandhinagar South constituency, had asked his supporters to resign from their posts in the party and local bodies in retaliation to being denied a ticket.
Gujarat votes in two phases on December 13 and 17. The results are expected to be declared on December 20.
