Kolkata rediscovers lost joy of kite flying

Kolkata is in the race to make it to the Limca Book of Records in kite flying.

On Sunday, the city witnessed "UDAAN' 2012", an initiative by A2Z Events Promotion Entertainment, partnered with Interact District Council 3291, to relive the lost game of Kite Flying along with an endeavour to create Kolkata 's first record for the "Limca Book of Records" for flying the maximum number of kites in one gathering.

The total registration of participants for this event was 1300.

Leaving behind the PS2 and 3D world, 1200 plus students and citizens from every part of society gathered to shout, laugh out loud and enjoy the winter morning with colourful kites in the sprawling Maidans of this city.

UDAAN' 2012 was graced by West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra and other dignitaries.

Kite flyers at this event united to celebrate togetherness with the spirit of "ONE SKY, ONE WORLD". Registration for Udaan'2012 was free for all with Kites and other required accessories being provided by the organizers.
