Modi fit to be PM: Sushma Swaraj
Narendra Modi is fit to be the Prime Minister of India, said senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj on Saturday.
The candidature of Modi as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate for 2014 is debatable owing to protests by other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) , but with Swaraj naming him, the support in favour of Modi only swelled.
Earlier suspended BJP leader Ram Jethmalani spoke in favour of Modi.
"He has done great work in Gujarat," said Swaraj is campaigning in Gujarat Saturday for the Assembly elections. L K Advani is also canvassing for Modi in Gujarat.
Gujarat will vote in two phases on Dec 13 and 17.
According to reports, while Advani will be campaigning across the state in the next two days, Swaraj was to address a rally in Vadodara. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will tour six places in Saurashtra and southern parts of the state.
The chief minister has also invited Bihar deputy chief minister Sushi Kumar Modi to campaign for the BJP in Gujarat.
He will campaign in Anjar and Gandhidham Assembly constituencies in Kutch district, a report said.
