A major fire engulfed a multi-storey building housing a plastic factory in the industrial hub Narela in Delhi on Saturday.
The fire occurred at mid-night and fire fighters and disaster management teams rushed to the spot immediately and started the rescue work.
Omkar Tyagi, Fire Officer, confirmed that there were no casualties and ten fire engines immediately reached the spot.
"There are no causalities. We will estimate the losses and right now I have ten fire tenders," he said.
The factory is situated in a densely populated area and could have proved hazardous for several lives.
However, Ajit Srivastav, Fire Disaster Management Officer reported that the some of the fire engines were held in traffic on the highway leading to the site.
"The problem that we are facing right now is that the road leading to the site from Karnal bypass is blocked due to traffic. Our fire tenders are stuck in the jam. The Delhi Police and the Traffic Police is working to disperse the traffic. The movement of traffic is very slow and the fire tenders are not able to reach the spot," he said.
The police have launched an inquiry to investigate the reason of the fire.
