Prez advises against disruption of House proceedings
President Pranab Mukherjee today said disruption should never be allowed to be used as an effective Parliamentary intervention.
Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly here, Mr Mukherjee said, "it should be the endeavour of every legisator to ensure that the content and quality of debates that take place in this chamber are of a high order, befitting their status as people's representatives.
There is always a tendency to disrupt parliamentary procedures and legislative procedures.
The rules are framed by the members according to the Constitution. But members themselves violate it by stalling Parliamentary proceedings, he said and called for debates of a high order.
He also emphasised on the imperative of maintaining discipline and decorum in the House and observance of rules, conventions and etiquette.
