Call for woman empowerment on Valentine's Day
New Delhi, Nov 30 (IANS)
Over 100 women's organisation Friday appealed to women in the country to stand up together against violence on Valentine's Day Feb 14.
"We appeal to women to celebrate love on February 14 by gathering in their cities, towns, colleges and schools and talk about violence against women," said Jagori director Sunita Dhar.
"We want peace and love, not violence," she said at a gathering at Jantar Mantar.
The call is part of 'One Billion Rising' campaign in support of victims of violence across the world, with people from 160 countries taking part.
"The day will be marked like a world woman's day," said activist Aruna Roy.
