Four injured in Faridabad building collapse
Four labourers were injured after an under-construction building collapsed in Faridabad on Saturday.
The two-storey building collapsed while some labourers were engaged in construction work in the building.
"Around 50-60 labourers were working on the terrace and few were working on the ground floor. Suddenly the building collapsed and the labourers working on the ground floor got trapped under the rubble. This was a two-storey building and shuttering was placed on both the floors. Around four-five labourers were working on the ground floor," said Vijay Kumar, a labourer.
The injured have been admitted in a nearby hospital, while it is feared that several labourers are still trapped under the rubble.
Rescue teams quickly swung into action for the salvage operations and tried to clear the debris with an aim to save those who were trapped under the wreckage.
Many Indian buildings do not conform to safety regulations, with owners constructing extra floors or structures without approval from the concerned authorities and beyond the sanctioned floor space index (FSI) or floor area ration (FAR).
