Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today e-launched 36 new Branches of HDFC Bank in Haryana here today, out of which 26 are in rural areas.
He also launched 'Bharat' Credit Card of HDFC Bank to facilitate the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said there were already 127 branches of HDFC Bank in Haryana and with this launch, there would be 163 branches in the state. He appreciated that the HDFC Bank had a plan to open 30 more such branches in the state by the end of this financial year.
He said expansion of banking network along with decentralisation of operations would improve the access to banking services and reduce transaction costs for the clients.
He said opening of such new branches would enable the banks to channelise the savings of the under-served population of our economy and offer new business avenues for lending to this segment.
He said he had high hopes that HDFC Bank by opening branches in the rural areas of the state would join hands with the government for the development of the state.
He said the banks should give timely financial assistance to the farmers so that they could utilise the same in the hour of need. He said that it should try to raise the living standard of BPL families.
