Sikhs to celebrate 543th birthday celebrations from Nov 24
The most important and major festival of the Sikh Community 'Sri Guru Nanak Devji' birthday celebration', the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh Religion, who spread the message of peace and communal harmony over the world will celebrate on a grand scale in Andhra Pradesh from November 24 to 28.
A mass 'Nagar keertan' (holy procession) will be taken out on November 24 at around 1530 hours, the Prabhandak Committee, Presidents, S Baldev Singh Bagga said in a release here yesterday.
Over 10,000 to 15,000 devotees will take part in the procession.
The release said the procession will be marked by the rendering of Shabad Keertans (holy hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men, women and youths.
Besides that 'Panj Pyaras' (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be the cynosure of the attraction all along the procession.
The major attraction of the procession will be the display of 'Gatka' a famous Sikh martial art forms and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and Special Gatka Party from Punjab will also exhibit their Gatka skills.
On the day of birthday which falls on November 28, a grand 'Vishaal Deewan' (mass congreation) will be held at N.T.R Stadium, Indira Park here, the release added.
