Six soldiers injured in Assam explosion
At least six army personnel were injured in a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion triggered by suspected naga militants in Assam's dima Hasao district on Wednesday, officials said.
The explosion took place at Impoi under Mahur police station in the hill district.
"Suspected militants attacked an army convoy of the 9th Madras Regiment," a top police official said.
"The militant group first exploded the IED and later firing on the army personnel," police said.
Four injured critically wounded personnel were taken away to Imphal by army helicopter.
Top police and army officials rushed to the spot and launched search operation against the militants in the bordering area of Nagaland and Manipur.
