The best and latest in textile industry, from fibre and fashion to infrastructure to technology, will be showcased at "Vastra 2012" exposition here Nov 22-25, attracting some 350 buyers from 60 countries, the organisers said Wednesday.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will open the exposition at the Export Promotion Industrial Park, co-organised by Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corp (RIICO) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
"The exposition will provide a platform for market access and an exposure to the latest in technology, trends, fashions as well as possibilities of fresh investments into the sector," RIICO managing director Naveen Mahajan said.
"This is the first global fair on textiles being organised in Rajasthan and will also give an opportunity for networking for new business partners. There will also be daily prescheduled B2B meetings between the buyers and the sellers," Mahajan added.
The exposition will be spread over 5000 sq mts, with live demonstrations of traditional textile crafts, business shows, concurrent conferences, buyer seller meetings. Around 170 exhibitors, covering the entire sector, are participate through 400 stalls.
FICCI's director for Rajasthan Gyan Prakash said buyers from 101 foreign countries were invited and those from 60 had confirmed their. Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala and Haryana are also setting their state pavilions.
He said the exposition also comes at a time when there is high competition in the global textile industry, valued at more than USD 400 billion, presenting both challenges and new opportunities.
The various conference sessions during the exposition will be chaired by Rajasthan's Industries Minister Rajendra Pareek, Indian Institute of Crafts and Design Director
Satish Bhardwaj and Apparel Training and Design Centre vice chairman Hari Kapoor.
