Mamata Banerjee visits Chandannagore to inaugurate Jagadharti puja

Development can be ushered in if only Hindus and Muslims work from a joint platform, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bnanerjee today said.

After inaugurating a Jagadhatri puja pandal at minority-dominated Urdi Bazar in Hooghly's Chandannagore, the Chief Minister said, "I don't see Muslims and Hindus separately and feel equally hurt at the death of any of them," and added she works for Maa, Mati and Manush (mother-land-people).

The Chief Minister expressed her gladness when she said she would visit the place that has so much historical value, every year during the puja.

Ms Banerjee took a boat trip to Chandannagore, once a French colony, from Babughat here, covering a distance of about 40 km. She was accompanied by Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

Ms Banerjee embarked on her return journey at 1545 hrs.
