GJM delegation to meet Mamata on transfer of govt depts to GTA

A six-member Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) delegation headed by general secretary Roshan Giri today left for Kolkata to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss transfer of government departments to GTA, Darjeeling, from Writers' Buildings.

The GJM leaders before meeting the Chief Minister in the State Secretariat on November 22, would hold talks on the same with Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra tomorrow, in which state Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee may take part.

GJM spokesman Binoy Kumar Tamang told UNI at least eight government departments have not been transferred to GTA while some have been done partially.

Mr Tamang, who is also a member of the delegation, said though the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) was signed on July 18, 2011, the newly-elected GTA body headed by Bimal Gurung, has not been fully operative due to non-transfer of many departments.

He also said the delegation would also discuss on three-tier panchayat elections in the hills.
