The Manohar Parrikar government has reintroduced open public screening of films during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), starting from on Tuesday.

Entertainment Society of Goa's (ESG) Chief Executive Officer Manoj Srivastava told reporters that 10 places in the city including the beaches have been selected for screening movies from Nov 24-28.

"Huge screens will be installed at these places. Movies which are being screened during the festival will not be a part of the public screening in open spaces," he said.

Beach screening, introduced by Parrikar himself during his earlier tenure in 2004 when IFFI traveled to Goa from Goa, was terminated by the Congress regime.

The festival organizers are expecting an estimated 10,000 people during the screening.

The 11 day festival begins Tuesday which will be inaugurated by Bollywood celeb Akshay Kumar.
