Army conducts flag march in curfew bound Kokrajhar
The Army on Friday conducted a flag march through certain parts of Assam's curfew-bound Kokrajhar District.
Indefinite curfew has been imposed in Kokrajhar following death of six persons in fresh violence since November 10. Four of those killed belong to the Bengali speaking Muslim community while two are Bodos.
Assam Director General of Police Jayanto Narayan Choudhury visited the district today and took stock of the prevailing situation on the ground during consultations with the district administration.
Assam Parliamentary Secretaries for Home Affairs Bhupen Bora and Rana Goswami also visited the district.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, spoke with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday, and asked him to bring the situation under control quickly.
Violence started last Saturday when suspected militants attacked some farmers.
