Three killed Assam violence, curfew declared
Fresh violence erupted the situation of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) as three people were killed by miscreants in three separate incidents in Assam on Thursday, police said.
At least nine people were killed by miscreants in BTAD in past six days.
A villager identified as Nirishon Basumutary was killed by miscreants in Kokrajhar district on Thursday morning.
"Miscreants killed the person at Telipara under Gosaigaon police station in the district," a top police official said.
Meanwhile, a trader was killed at Tangla in Udalguri district on Thursday evening.
"Two miscreants, traveled in a motor bike and gunned down the trader, when he was returning from his shop," police said.
The deceased trader was identified as Boby Dey.
Miscreants killed a primary school teacher and injured another at Kachugaon area in Kokrajhar district.
"A five-member armed group opened fired on the teachers, when they were returning from the school," a top official said.
The killed teacher was identified as Asharuddin Sheikh and the injured Akramul Haque was rushed to the nearest hospital.
Meanwhile, another person was injured, when miscreants attacked him in broad daylight at Kokrajhar weekly market.
The injured Abul Kalam was admitted at Kokrajhar civil hospital.
Meanwhile, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in Kokrajhar and Gosaigaon area on Thursday.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had ordered to Assam police and army to take stern action against the culprits, who were involved in the recent attacks.
A top level meeting was held at Kokrajhar to review the situation in BTAD.
