The Odisha government today decided to chalk out a master plan to develop the wetlands in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Forest and Environment Minister Bijoyshree Routray said in the first phase three major wetlands would be taken up for development and later the other wetlands would be taken up under the state Wetland management Plan.
Mr Routray said the wetland located near the Biju Pattnaik Airport would be taken up on a priority basis.
The officials of the GA and the Forest Department were asked to identify the area of land within ten days so that the land could be taken up development.
The officials were also asked to make a comprehensive plan and prepare a project report for the conservation of the wetland and take steps to free the area from encroachment if any.
Later, steps would be taken up to develop the land into a beautiful garden, the Minister said.
