At least two militants were killed as the Indian Army foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.
According to reports, at least three Army jawans were killed during the incident.
The Army recovered two AK assault rifles from the site of the encounter.
In a separate incident, one militant was killed in an encounter at Kujjar village in Kulgam district on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said.
"Acting on a specific information about the presence of armed militant in village Kujjar, Kulgam, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Yaripora, Police along with 1st RR and 18 Bn CRPF, launched a joint search operation in the area, this afternoon," the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on their official website.
"During the search, militants opened fire on the search party triggering an encounter."
"One militant was killed in the encounter this evening. The slain militant was later identified as Showkat Ahmad Tak resident of Panzgam," the police said on Tuesday.
