50 hurt as roof, wall collapse in Uttar Pradesh

Over 50 people, including women and children, were injured in Charkhari in Mahoba, 230 km from here, when the roof and wall of a house collapsed Wednesday, police said.
The injured were standing on a roof of a house watching Diwari Nritya, the post-Diwali festival, when the roof and a wall collapsed under the weight of the onlookers.
Police teams rescued 50 people from the rubble. Seven people are in critical condition and have been admitted to a medical facility in Jhansi.
Mahoba's Superintendent of Police M.D. Karndhar told IANS that the railing of the house belonging to shopkeeper Pradeep Shukla caved in at around 1 p.m.
