NSCN (Khaplang) ready to talk with Center
NSCN (Khaplang) has said the outfit was ready for talks on the settlement of the Naga political problem with the Centre provided it was given a written invitation.
According to a statement issued by NSCN (K), a verbal invitation had been made to the outfit by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde but the faction insisted upon a written invitation before responding.
The statement further claimed that a written invitation from the Centre was expected in December.
Once the NSCN (K) received the invitation, the outfit would then convene a participatory meeting with mass-based organisations including civil societies so that opinions of all Nagas were taken before negotiations began, the faction said.
It maintained that any settlement would have to be two-pronged-one for Nagas in Myanmar and the other for Nagas in India.
Demanding full sovereignty, the NSCN(K) observed, 'We were independent people and will continue to remain so.'
