Suspended BJD MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra today alleged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has created an "emergency like situation to supress the movement of his newly floated Odisha Janmorcha, to bring reform in the party."
Mr Mohapatra told newepersons that the ruling BJD leaders at the behest of the chief minister put pressure on the local administration and the police to not allow a press conference by the Janmorcha vice-chairman Rajendra Prasad Singh at Rourkela yesterday.
He said the OJM had tried at least three venues during the day to organise the press conference but they were not allowed to do it in the last minute due to pressure on the hotel owners from the ruling BJD.
Even the police in plain cloths persuaded the hotel owners not to allow the OJM to hold the press conference, the BJD MP alleged.
Mr Mohapatra, who has been suspended from the party for his alleged May 29 failed coup to dislodge Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said the Chief Minister was resorting to all sorts of undemocratic methods to supress the movement of the OJM in the state.
The OJM, he said had been floated to streamline the party functioning which he said was not working as per the party constitution.
Mr Mohapatra, who has already held a big rally here in the state capital, is planning to organise similar rallies in other parts of Odisha and the second rally after Bhubaneswar, is slated to be held on November 19 in Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.
