Chhattisgarh CM enters his office in new secretariat
Amid Vedic hymns, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today entered his office in the new secretariat building in the new capital city of Naya Raipur on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras.
The Chief Minister -- accompanied by his wife Veena Singh and Industries Minister Rajesh Munat -- reached the new secretariat at 1130 hrs and offered puja.
Dr Singh had meetings with Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar and Principal Secretary N Baijendra Kumar. He also approved a proposal to grant scholarships to students of the Ramkrishna Mission Ashram.
The new state-of-the-art secretariat building, located 20 km from here, was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday during the 12th Rajyotsav celebration. But the government functioning from the new capital was delayed due to some unavoidable circumstances.
Though it was decided to start with a Cabinet meeting in the new building on Friday, it was cancelled at the eleventh hour following the death of the Chief Minister's brother-in-law Kumrendra Singh in Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited his office in the old secretariat at the Dau Kalyan Singh Bhavan and offered a Chaddar at the 250-year-old Mazar of Baba Sayed Buleh Shah.
The government decided to use the old secretariat as an extension of Dr Ambedkar General Hospital of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
