Whisky-infused macarons to be unveiled at Australian fest
Renowned Australian patissier Adriano Zumbo has teamed up with bartender Tim Philips to create a world-first range of whisky-infused macarons.
The four Zumbaron creations - known as Honey Sweetness, West Coast Smoke, Rich Stone Fruits, and Fire - will be unveiled to Melbourne's flavour-fanatics during Stakes Day, the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, News.com.au reported.
Positioned across themed cocktail stations in the Johnnie Walker 'Flavour is King' Marquee, the first creation, West Coast Smoke, will be surrounded by nothing less than caramel flavoured smoke, leaving silver speckled black macarons full of burnt maple caramel, coconut, tea and vanilla flavours in its wake.
Philips, the newly crowned Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year 2012, has also created a bespoke cocktail for the occasion, which will be served next to a live bee hive.
"It was a great challenge creating the Zumbarons," Zumbo said.
"Coming up with the elements for each was the hardest, but it only took us one attempt and we were happy with the flavour," he added.
