Laws must be mindful of minority rights: Minister
Union Minister of Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan Thursday asserted that any law enacted or rules framed or regulations made should be subject to the rights of minorities under Article 30 of the Constitution.
Khan while addressing the 60th Meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) Thursday, said, "CABE is the highest policy making Body of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD)."
Reminding education policy makers, the Minister said that it is often seen that while enacting laws or making rules, the educational rights of the minorities are overlooked.
"Sometimes State Governments violate the fundamental rights of the minorities," he added .
He called upon the Minister of HRD to issue the instructions to the States to safeguard the rights of minorities and to constitute a committee of the Central Advisory Board to formulate the guidelines.
